What can you do to get rid of roaches at home?

December 31, 2020

If there’s one pest every homeowner has learned to dread, it’s the cockroach. As persistent as they are unpleasant, roaches can be very difficult to discourage once they’ve taken up residence in your home. What can you do? Fortunately, there are some simple steps you can take to make your household less hospitable to these pests.

Keep your home clean.

Roaches, like many pests, are attracted to clutter and debris. If you keep your home as neat and tidy as possible, you’ll be reducing the number of places where roaches can potentially hide. In addition to minimizing the clutter, you should be sure to wipe down countertops and stoves daily. Never leave dirty dishes in the sink overnight, and make sure you clean up after meals right away.

Watch out for water leaks.

Roaches are attracted to water, so it’s important to fix any leaky pipes as soon as possible. Even minor leaks can provide roaches with the water they need to stay alive. Puddles of standing water, water left in sinks, and water pooling around your bathtub can all attract roaches. Keeping your home dry is key to keeping roaches at bay.

Seal up your house.

In order for roaches to get into your home, they have to find an opening from the outside. Unfortunately, many homes are filled with tiny cracks and crevices that roaches can use to gain entry. In addition to roaches, these holes can provide an entryway for other pests, such as ants and even wasps. To protect your home from unwanted pests, make sure that you’ve sealed off all of these potential entrances. this should help get rid of roaches.
